So you want to challenge the Aina Region's gyms, huh? Great! Here's how you do it:
First, you pick a gym. You can challenge the Aina gyms in any order. That's right, any order. You can do whatever gym seems like it would be easiest for you first, or you can save that one for last and see how it manages to surprise you. Or you could do them in a circuit around the island, or even in a completely random order. There are no restrictions here.
Second, you post a topic. The topic title should be tagged with [Gym Challenge] or something similar. That's the easy part. Your opening post, then, should have you roleplaying your character working their way through the gym. You have some free rein with puzzles here -- they should fit to what is depicted in the gym board description (rope bridges and ladders between trees for the bug gym, for instance), but it's safe to assume that the details can change a little between threads. You can mention gym trainers if you want, but it's not required. They're there, but if we forced everyone to RP out battles with all of them then these would never get done.
Your opening post should wrap up with your character reaching the final arena. After that, a mod will respond as the gym leader and start the battle. This is a modded battle, and all relevant rules apply.
Then, naturally, you will either win or lose. This isn't the anime, where someone can still get a badge without a clear-cut victory. There's no Team Rocket to randomly interrupt and mess things up, so there's only a win condition and a loss condition. Which is to say, either you faint all of the leader's Pokemon, or they faint all of yours. If you lose, you have to wait until the next week before you can challenge again. If you win, you still have to wait until the next week before you can challenge another gym.
Important Notes: Please list your current party in your opening post. The gym leader's team will be designed (within reason) based on the strength and capabilities of yours, so this helps us to avoid over- or under-shooting. Also don't try to edit it halfway through. We'll know.
Also, keep in mind that gym leaders will get stronger the more badges you have. Don't assume that you can just sweep through all of them at once. You might get lucky once or twice, but if you're not actually training and getting stronger between gym challenges, they will quickly become too much to handle.
Useful Notes: Gym leaders will use more Pokemon based on how many badges you've previously earned. They will start with three, and gain one more for every two badges you have.
Rewards for beating a gym are:
-A Gym Badge
-A TM (See the Leaders' profile topics for which TMs are given by whom.)
-Money! Specifically, 500 credits x the number of badges earned (including the one you just got).
In addition, rather than calculating EXP per opposing Pokemon, ALL of your Pokemon who see action in the battle (defined by landing at least one move on the opponent) earn 2 EXP.
Gym Locations:
There is a gym in each city except for the abandoned Haalele Town. For your convenience, here are some quick links:
Flying Gym - Lani City
Water Gym - Moana City
Ground Gym -Kahakai Resort City
Bug Gym - Mala Town
Grass Gym - Hapuu Town
Fire Gym - Ahi Town
Poison Gym - Hala City
Electric Gym - Mahiko City
