When making your character, you have a rather important choice you'll have to make; namely, what your character will actually be as they go through their journey as a Pokemon Trainer. You have five choices in this regard each one with their own bonuses.
Battler: When one thinks of the term "Pokemon Trainer", this is often what comes to mind. These are the ones who go about, capturing and battling with their Pokemon. They understand the finer points of battling that are lost on those who view it as little more than "forcing animals to fight each other", and know how to bring out the best in their Pokemon.
Bonus: Battlers who make use of the Training Grounds gain two points of EXP per session, instead of just one.
Coordinator: This is an option for those who still want to be a Pokemon Trainer, but don't like the idea of having them battle against other Pokemon. Instead, they participate in Pokemon Contests, which involve showing off moves in creative and inventive ways, rather than facing off against an opponent.
Bonus: (sorry, but there isn't one yet, as we still don't even know how contests will work. As such, we have no clue what sort of bonus to give Coordinators that will give anyone incentive to choose them over any of the other classes. That said, if anyone has any suggestions, our ears are open.)
Breeder: Like Coordinators, Breeders put their focus in places other than battling. Instead, they focus more on raising and breeding Pokemon, and can even open shops to sell extra Eggs/Pokemon if they so wish. As long as keep up with their business, Breeders stand to make a bit of money.
Bonus: Breeders are able to use the Breeding Center twice a week, whereas everyone else can only use it once a week. Additionally, there's less risk involved, meaning that the chances of a Breeding failing is noticeably reduced.
Police Force: Every region needs one, and this one is no exception. With their main HQ set in Lani City, and a smaller branch in other major city within the Aina Region, the police force are tasked with maintaining law and order throughout the region. Normal citizens will have nothing to fear from them, but to anyone who breaks the law, they're a force to be reckoned with.
As for joining the police, there are three requirements; 1) You must be at least eighteen years old, 2) you must be physically fit 3) you must have at least some basic training in any form of hand-to-hand self-defense, and 4) you must have a relatively clean record. Minor offenses will be overlooked as long as there aren't too many of them.
Bonus: In addition to their two starter Pokemon, anyone who makes a new recruit is also allowed a third starter Pokemon, who will be their official "Police Pokemon". There are fifteen in total that one may choose from;
- Growlithe
- Swinub
- Houndour
- Phanpy
- Poochyena
- Zigzagoon
- Electrike
- Spoink
- Buizel
- Munchlax
- Lillipup
- Woobat
- Deerling
- Bunnelby
- Spritzee
There is only one stipulation for having this Pokemon. One of its Normal Moves must be Odor Sleuth, and that move cannot be replaced or deleted at any point. Additionally, you must bring it with you on any missions directly involving the police, though actually using it in any battles will be optional.
One last note. At this point in time, we would prefer that nobody makes any "corrupt cop" characters. We might allow it later on down the road, when there are more members. Until then, please refrain from posting any such apps. They will probably be denied. Same goes for Rangers.
Pokemon Rangers: The Police may be the authority within the cities, but there's little they can do outside of them. That's where the Pokemon Rangers come in. Whether it be an out-of-control wild Pokemon or poachers going after Pokemon in a No Catching Zone, their goal is to ensure that the region is safe for trainers and Pokemon alike. Their main HQ is in Ahi Town, though, like the police, they have a smaller branch in every major town/city.
The requirements for joining Rangers are a bit more lax when compared to joining the police force, but they're still followed very strictly. Anyone who wishes to join must 1) be at least 16 years old, 2) be physically fit and 3) have a relatively clean record. Anyone with severe allergies is discouraged from trying to join, as much of their time will be spent out in the wild.
Before we go any further, I just want to make it clear that this class has nothing to do with the Pokemon Ranger series. Sorry, but there will be no Capture Stylers. Rather, this is based on the actual Trainer class that debuted in the Gen III games...and no, you don't have to give Berries to anyone who beats you. Unless you really want to. In which case I won't stop you.
Bonus: All Ranger recruits start with both a Berry Pouch and an Apricorn Pouch for free.
