Distinguishing Features: Aside from being rather tall, nothing worth noting.

Personality: At first glance, Adriel doesn't appear to take anything very serious, as she is often found goofing off and either watching anime or playing video games. While she isn't necessarily lazy, she often procrastinates on her less important duties, generally waiting until the last second to get them done. While this doesn't usually interfere with her running the lab, getting her to do something that she doesn't deem important can be a bit of a challenge. She'll eventually do it, but only after she's taken care of the things she has deemed important. She can, however, occasionally be found taking a nap in random locations, much to the chagrin of other staff members. Usually, she'll find a location that doesn't directly interfere with another person's work, but it doesn't make it any less annoying to deal with.

Overall, Adriel is incredibly carefree. As mentioned above, she doesn't appear to take anything seriously, and has a rather lax attitude when it comes to pretty much everything she does. Someone could be absolutely livid, screaming in her face at the top of their lungs, and she'd merely stand there with a bored and dismissive look on her face. This isn't to say she's ignoring them, but it's generally safe to assume she's taking everything worth a grain of salt. That said, she, despite her appearances, takes her job very seriously. While it doesn't always show, she places her responsiblities as the Professor above all else, and will do everything in her power to help any trainers who come seeking her advice. And when she makes a mistake, she will always take responsibility for it.

History: As a native of Aina, Adriel was born and raised in Lani City. Her mother and father were caught in an accident when she was barely a few months old, which ended up costing both of them their lives. As such, she was taken in by her grandfather, who happened to be the Professor of Aina at the time. She grew up happily, being constantly surrounded by Pokemon, and found herself wanting to learn more and more about them as the years went by. When she turned seven years old, something happened that changed her life.

To make a long story short, she happened to be in the right place at the right time when an Egg that her grandfather had been incubating started to hatch. Adriel watched with amazement as a young Piplup was born, and immediately attached itself to the girl, thinking that she would be his trainer. Initially, her grandfather was upset, as he had planned on training that Pokemon himself for use in some experients. However, when he saw how quickly the two of them had managed to form a bond, he simply couldn't stay mad. Thus, he allowed her to keep the Piplup.

When she turned ten, it came to the surprise of absolutely no one when she expressed a desire to obtain a trainer's license and set off on her journey. Her Grandfather had mixed feelings on the matter, as do most parents/guardians when the kids they've raised want to go out into the world and become a trainer. Nevertheless, he agreed to let her go, knowing all too well how excited she must be. He was like that once himself. Either way, he saw Adriel off as she set out on her journey, deeply proud of what the girl was about to do.

At first, it was a rocky start. She knew a lot about training and battling, but a lot of it proved to be easier said than done. But once she finally started catching some Pokemon, it started to get easier. Before long, she proved herself to be a highly capable trainer, and made quite a name for herself via various league-sponsered tournaments. She continued for several years, even visiting other regions and doing just as well in them. All in all, it was a rather fullfilling life, though she eventually reached a point where she decided to go back home and settle down for a bit.

While at home, she found herself helping her grandfather out with his studies. Between that and her experiences as a trainer, she ended up becoming quite knowledgable of Pokemon. She found Pokemon Types to be particularly interesting, and it was rather surprising how little people had actually researched into them. As such, that quickly shifted into the her main focus. Years later, after she turned twenty-five, her grandfather's age had started to catch up with him. No longer able to keep up with this work, he decided it was time to retire.

It was no secret that Adriel loved battling. Even after coming home, she occasionally sneaked off to enter a tournament or simply challenge some random opponents. So it surprised many when she immediately volunteered to take her grandfather's place as the Aina Region's main professor. After all, her responsibilities would keep her pretty busy, and it was unlikely that she would have much time for her usual battling. Still, it wasn't as though she wasn't capable, and everyone knew it. Thus, she officially took over as the Professor of the Aina Region, and she remains such to this day.

Additional Info:
Though she knows a lot about Pokemon in general, Adriel's area of expertise is in the characteristics of each Pokemon Type. In fact, as something of a personal quirk, she has a habit of only using Pokemon with unique Type combinations whenever she battles.

Of all the questions she is constantly asked, the one she is the most sick of hearing is "why isn't Charizard a Dragon-type?"

Though Adriel doesn't usually go out of her way to hide her sexual orientation, she doesn't make it obvious either. Usually, if asked about it, she won't deny it. Otherwise, however, she doesn't really ever say or do anything to indicate that she prefers women.

Adriel is a big eater, and is almost always seen eating something, whether it be a bag of potato chips or her personal favorite; a corn dog. She almost considered naming a few of her Pokemon after food, but decided against it when she realized how morbid that might be. One of the biggest mysteries of Aina is how she can eat so much and not weight over three hundred pounds.
