Walking felt different now. Back home, in Unova, Marin walked a lot; she walked everywhere, she had to. Sure, all that walking in Virbank City may have left a permanent stain on her lungs, but it’s not like she had a choice. But now, in Aina, walking on Seabreeze Road, she felt… refreshed.
It was like starting new. At last, she had begun the journey she had only dreamed about as a kid in her parents’ studio apartment. The wide open spaces seemed to go on forever, far beyond the horizon. Marin smiled faintly, adjusting her collar as the gust rolling off the ocean rustled it. Her tie rolled like a flag in the wind, and her green hair cascaded around her face.
She felt free. All her worries she had left on the port of Virbank…
And now, she had the freedom to catch her first Pokemon. Having received her starters, Venipede and Croagunk, Marin was able to blaze a trail to her success as a battler of Aina. She wondered what rested in store for her.

» TAGGED, Van» WORD COUNT, 174 While walking down the road, she noticed a tiny bird poking at the ground. It seemed docile enough, and it was actually kind of cute. Marin smiled at it as it went about its plucking. The bird Pokemon back at home, the Pidove, were incredibly annoying; they'd waddle around her feet and coo for her bread crumbs incessantly. But this little fella, he was pretty passive compared to the flocks of Pidove that swarmed the smoggy skies of Virbank.
Marin decided to trekk onward, letting the Pidgey scavenge in peace. The last thing she wanted to do was linger and pester the Pokemon; Marin did not take this stroll to get sidetracked by angry wild Pokemon. Besides, she recalled flying-type Pokemon had the advantage over bug-types and fighting-types... Something to that affect. She did not want to put Mukade and Doku at a disadvantage; they'd give her attitude for the rest of the day.
She passed the Pidgey, bringing her arms back behind her head as she continued to travel down the breezy road.

» TAGGED, Van» WORD COUNT, 254 Staring at the sky, Marin watched the clouds roll overhead. Slow, soft, white, they floated over her lazily, carried by the constant sea breeze. She noticed one cloud in particular moving faster than the others; a small tuft of white coasting through the sky, passed all the other clouds as if it was trying to win a race.
It took Marin a while to realize the racing cloud... was not a cloud at all. She opened her eyes wide as she noticed downy blue feathers within the white fluff. A Pokemon?! Marin blinked rapidly and rubbed her eyes; she had never seen a Pokemon like that in Unova. A blue bird with clouds for wings... Pretty, but strange. The faint flapping of its wings could barely be heard over the gusts of wind, but Marin knew it was flying lower.
Startled and not eager to challenge a flying-type, Marin broke into a brisk jog along the trail. Her sneakers hit the dirt loudly as she tried to outrun the approaching Pokemon, starying off the road a little as she did so. Catching her breath on the grassy side of the trail, she heard the flapping wings pass her by. Maybe the Pokemon was just curious? She stood upright, having been bent over with her hands on her knees. These encounters... were not as peaceful as she had thought.
Luckily, she was able to pass by yet another wild Pokemon. As she got on the road again, she anticipated what Pokemon she would meet next.

» TAGGED, Van» WORD COUNT, 817 It was midday by the time Marin neared the end of the route. It had been... uneventful, to say the least. But, it was relaxing. She needed this walk to clear her head. After all, Aina was a completely different world compared to Unova. Taking a stroll down this road... It helped Marin slowly become a little more adjusted to her new home and her new Pokemon. The sun bore down on her head, but the breeze kept her cool.
The breeze also carried a peculiar purple balloon along down the road too. As it slowly drifted towards her, Marin realized it was another Pokemon. The ones she had encountered before were cute and fluffy bird Pokemon, but this? Marin had to tilt her head and wonder what kind of Pokemon this was supposed to be. A balloon Pokemon?
"Wha-what--" Marin made a disgruntled face when the Pokemon changed course and began to swirl around her, making soft and repetitive cooing noises that sounded like it was saying "floon." She nearly fell backward as she tried to distance herself from the invasive Pokemon, but it only hovered closer.
Marin knew is she made one wrong move it would attack her, and she'd be damned if she gave it the opportunity. Reaching for Mukade's ball carefully, she extended her other hand out to keep the Drifloon at bay while she readied her Pokemon's capsule.
"Quick, Mukade!" She sprang back and sent out her Venipede, whom regarded the Drifloon with a lazy gaze. Mukade's heavy eyelids only widened a little when the Drifloon made a hissing noise, like air whistling out of a balloon. Marin pointed to the wild Pokemon. "Hit it with Poison Tail!"
Mukade made a clicking cry as it charged at the Drifloon, taking the offensive as his tail glowed purple, full of venom. The Venipede's thick shell buckled as his abdomen turned, swinging his sharp tail at the wild Pokemon.
MUKADE used POISON TAIL It's not very effective... DRIFLOON was POISONED!
The Drifloon made a whistling noise as the move hit, shuddering with the damaging status effect. Its round face puckered with anger at being attacked, and the Pokemon swayed eerily, emitting a dark miasma that wafted towards Mukade. First, it was creeping, then its attack picked up in a strange gust, knocking Marin's Venipede to his side.
DRIFLOON used OMINOUS WIND
Marin's brows furrowed with surprise. "So, it's a ghost-type..." She looked to Mukade as he slowly recovered, loftily getting to his tiny legs with a growl. "Mukade, let's be careful." She had never faced a ghost-type before, but she knew what would work. "Go for it with Pursuit!"
Charging forward again, the Venipede was soon swarmed with a dark energy that soon spiraled around him. Those bug-eyes of his narrowed as he honed in on the Drifloon before leaping, crashing into his opponent's rubbery face with a hiss. He rolled back after the impact, making fierce clicking noises.
MUKADE used PURSUIT! It's super-effective!
The Drifloon faltered a bit in the air, hovering lower to the ground while making furious coos again. This time, as it swayed like a metronome in the air, it conjured up a gust that soon shot straight at Mukade. The Venipede made a surprised hissing noise at he was blown onto his back, his legs squirming at the sky helplessly.
DRIFLOON used GUST! It's super-effective!
"Dammit..." Marin considered switching out for Doku at this point, but she did not want to let her Venipede's effort go to waste. With silent conviction, she let him get back on his feet and wait for the next command, "Use Pursuit again, Mukade!"
She assumed by this point the Drifloon would be weakened enough by the poison that the Pursuit would make a final blow. She knew Mukade may not be able to take another Gust attack. It was a roll of the dice for sure, but this risk she was willing to take.
As Mukade charged again for another Pursuit, which landed splendidly, the Drifloon squealed loudly. It deflated and whistled away in an angry twirl, much like an actual deflated balloon, but in its defeat a strange force swarmed her Venipede.
The wild DRIFLOON fainted!
Marin's eyes widened with shock as the dark force collapsed on Mukade, damaging him.
MUKADE was damaged by DRIFLOON's Aftermath!
Marin ran to her Venipede as the blackish energy faded, fearful of what it had done and shocked that it even occurred in the first place. "Mukade...?" She reached a hand out to him, petting his head gently. She beamed when it she noticed he was hanging on, he could take another hit! "You did it! You're great."
Picking up her Pokemon, aware of his low health, she hurried down the road. Leaving it all behind, needing a Pokemon Center in the next town.
» NOTE: not sure if i did this right... ahh, but i'm hoping her venipede could get some exp outta this?
