Let's Get Cooking! (Nene's Training)

Nene released her Bulbasaur into the training grounds with a hum. After their battle with the Tauros where they barely escaped with a draw, Nene decided it would probably be good for her and Parsley to get some more training and practice in. "Alright Parsley, we can't just cook hard if we want to be respected in this world, most of the big restaurant owners are also top pokemon trainers so we're going to have to get stronger and tougher at battling as well as improving our cooking if we're going to make it!" She clenched her fist with excitement. The bulbasaur seemed more subdued but generally on the same page as his trainer.

"Alright first up let's practice your Vine Whip!" Nene called out, causing Parsley to roll his eyes. She always had an obsession with that move even though it was by far not his strongest. However he did as he was told, first practicing the strength of his whipping by swinging his vines against the tree Nene distinguished as a target, leaving a few marks, working it again and again until he was out of breath. "Alright, take a minute to get your breath back and then work on your vine dexterity, this'll help with cooking too!" Nene climbed the tree and giggled, shaking one of the brances and sending several leaves floating down.

"Try to catch as many of these as you can with your vines!" The Bulbasaur scrambled to try and catch them all but ended up missing a few, only curling three leaves into his vines. The process was repeated and while never perfect, Parsley got the hang of it for the most part by the end. "Alright, now let's work on the accuracy of your poison powder. It's pretty deadly to opponents but that's no good if they dodge it." She placed a piece of paper on the ground and nodded. "Try and direct all your powder and shoot it all on that one spot."

Parsley nodded, sprinkling out the purple substance, proud as it all rained down on the sheet, not missing a beat. "Good." Nene grinned, ripping the paper in half. "Now do it again with a smaller target." Parsley groaned and kept trying. The process was repeated until Nene was satisfied with the accuracy. For the last exercise they practiced brute strength, having the Bulbasaur use his tackle and razor leaf repeatedly on the tree to repeat the force on an unmoveable object.

"Alright good job Parsely." Nene grinned as the Bulbasaur panted, rolling onto his side before his trainer returned him "We'll pick this up again in a little while~"

Nene sighed softly, since their last training session her team had grown quite a bit and she felt like they'd gotten a bit stronger along the way, but it still wasn't enough. All the big-time restaurant owners in Kalos were also strong trainers that used their pokemon battles to promote their restaurants, so Nene would have to learn to at least keep pace when it came to battling strength. She took out the pokeball with her Bulbasaur in it for a little special training this time. "Alright Parsley, we're going to practice cooking skills this time that will also help you in battling." She set a frying pan in front of him and put her hands on her hips. "I want you to do 500 pancake flips with this using your Vine Whip. Remember, smooth forward to back motions, it's just like lifting weights but with more focus on dexterity than strength." She watched as the Bulbasaur picked up the frying pan by the handle with his vines and repeated the motion over and over. The constant repetition made it a bit hard for the grass-type to keep up the fluidity but after a while it fell into a nice pattern that Nene was satisfied with.

"Alright good, now just because we have Turkey for this doesn't mean you can get away with shirking chopping duty." She pulled out a loaf of bread and grinned. "Next I want you to cut this loaf with your Razor Leaf and try to make the slices even." The Bulbasaur nodded, taking a stance and firing the leaf shuriken at the loaf of bred with a soft growl. The slices were even but a bit thicker than anyone would serve in a restaurant. "Hmmm, not bad, but try to make them thinner. Again!" She called, putting another loaf of bread down and the two repeated the process until the leaves cut the bread into nice, even slices that were ready to be toasted and buttered. "Good job Parsley! Now I only have one more task for you~" She smiled softly and patted him on the head for a job well done.

"You've learned how to slice bread, now it's time to knead the dough!" She placed a large lump of mushy bread dough in front of the Bulbasaur. "Use your Tackle on this dough to work it into submission. This'll help in battle too since you'll no doubt have to fight against some guys with more give to their bodies. It's just like hitting a big ol' Muk or Snorlax, right?" She grinned and nodded, the Bulbasaur getting ready to tackle the dough. He rushed forward, ramming into the dough once, then again and again, moving back and forth, tiring his little legs out and pounding the dough with his body to make it soft and pliable. He was panting by the time all this was done but the tasks were done to Nene's approval and she gave him a small stroke. "Good boy Parsley~ See? We really can practice battling and cooking at the same time. Now that's what I call multitasking~" She giggled softly before returning him and gathering up the ingredients.

Nene nodded firmly, pulling out a pokeball and releasing her Ivysaur, she had others that could use some training but she figured she'd take the time to help Parsley train and get used to his new moves and abilities, knowing the tough battles that they had up ahead. "Alright Parsley, let's get down to business to beat those mons." She put her hands on her hips and nodded again. "Let's try seed bomb first, I want you to practice range and accuracy." She pointed over to a discarded tree stump. "Step back and shoot your seed at this, but keep it within the range of the stump, don't go over, try to keep it in that circle and shatter the wood.

Parsley nodded, the flower on his back sprouting three seeds before firing them into the air, divebombing in an arc. The first barrage missed, veering a little to the right. "Don't forget to correct for the wind now!" Nene called out. The Ivysaur nodded, firing off a second barrage. This one hit the stump dead center but served only to crack it, not fully destroy it. "One more time!" One more Seed Bomb was launched into the air before divebombing in an arc in the air, crashing down with great force and shattering the stump.

"Great job! Now let's try you Energy Ball attack." Nene called, her grass-type charging up a green ball of energy. "Now charge and maintain it for a minute before firing it off!" Around the Ivysaur's mouth the ball continued to grow and wobble before he finally fired it off, shooting into the distance. Nene and Parsley repeated this process a few times before considering the technique completed. "Alright, just a few more now. Try soaking this rock with your Venoshock and seeing how much damage you can do."

Parsley grunted softly, firing off a stream of purple poison energy from its flower and hitting the rock dead on, the venom splashing against it. Spurts of poison hit the stone again and again before it eventually began to crack and melt and Nene nodded for him to stop. "Alright, now for the finisher! Solar Beam and blast the rock away!" The Ivysaur closed his eyes, taking a deep breath and drawing as much solar energy into its flower as he could, taking a few moments before the charging was complete. After a little bit the flower began to glow yellow, indicating the charging was complete.

"Now! Solar Beam Blast!" Nene pointed towards the rock and the Ivysaur fired the yellow beam from its flower, leaning forward and blasting the rock, the remains of the stump and anything else in its path for a good few meters away in the blast. "Good, now one last thing~" Parsley groaned, tired and thinking they were done, wondering what his trainer wanted now. "Practice Vine Whip." She scrunched her face up with excitement, wanting to see the Ivysaur's tentacles in action again. Parsley groaned again and facefaulted, but did as she asked and skillfully whipped at the tree next to him with his vines for a few minutes before they called it quits.
