Karin couldn't help but marvel at the groves. At first glance, they were just another part of the rainforest. The trees were so dense and so vibrant in color that Karin would almost never have compared them to the berry trees she always saw growing on the side of the rad in Sinnoh. And yet, every single one of them had berries hanging from their branches. Where would she even begin? There were far more options here than in Sinnoh...maybe if she just picked a few at random to see what she got?
Yeah, that was what she would do. So she made her way into the grove along the narrow paths winding between the trees, picking berries that caught her eye.

Mala Town was a very convenient halfway point on the Hapuu Highway. It let her stop and rest a bit, get something to eat, and pick some berries from the surrounding groves before heading out on her way again. Nice and simple. She was still experimenting a bit with what berries did what, and which ones would be most useful for her, so she didn't have anything in particular that she wanted. So instead, she did exactly what she did last time: take a nice, pleasant stroll through the dense berry grove and just pick whatever caught her eye. She'd sort them all out later.

Karin was already back in the area again, so she decided to take another pass through the groves around Mala Town. As usual for this time (this time was every time), it was raining, turning her pleasant walk into...well, it was still a pleasant walk. She just had to be careful to keep from slipping in any puddles or getting her umbrella caught on any of the berry trees. Eventually, she decided to just fold up her umbrella and let herself get wet. It would let her see more of the grove anyway. Then, once she was resolved to get wet, she started picking a batch of random berries.

Suffice to say, Karin's last trip into the groves had been very...fruitful. She hated herself for thinking of that pun, for about half a second before she decided that she had no regrets. Afterwards, she just kind of moved on. Physically. Into the grove and away from bad humor. Having had so much success last time, Karin decided to just go ahead and continue picking berries at random to see what she could find. It probably helped that she couldn't remember which ones were the Maranga Berry trees. Was there even one around here? It seemed like she'd just run into them by accident last time.
