Field Research [Lilith/MOD]

Once again Alex found himself at Orchard Way, he's been finding himself often wandering this area. After his first go around of the area when he found the extremely damp environment that was Shin's former home, his next one he would find the area had dried up considerably, the path, though it still had small puddles about was now clearly visible. Which begged the question "How did they area manage to get rid of the water so easily?" It was beyond peculiar, though he had a hunch that what did this had the aid of, or was a Pokemon. With the bay so nearby it wouldn't be impossible for marine Pokemon to wander their way here in search of food. Though that still left the question of what was able to dry it out so quickly.
"Hmmm..." Alex hummed to himself with closed eyes. His mind trying to find a plausible solution. He had already gone through all of his PokeDex entries, none of them gave any insight on a Pokemon able to get rid of water so easily. Just like back at the Power Plant, the only way for him to find the answer was through field research. Taking out a pokeball, he released one of the Pokemon he caught from this area. Shin, his Croagunk appeared from the pokeball. The Croagunk faced his trainer and gave a slight bow, which Alex felt implied to mimic. "Well then Shin, do you remember where your battle with Eos was?" The Croagunk cringed as he remembered, then gave a nod. "Can you lead me there again?" The poisonous Pokemon gave a reluctant nod. Before Alex got to moving he reached in his bag, checking on his newly acquired egg. A woman in the center had asked him to look after the unborn Pokemon, and seeing it as a chance to learn more about Pokemon, Alex wholeheartedly agreed. Assured the soon-to-be Pokemon was safe, he and Shin set off.

A soft, cheerful hum escaped from Lilith's rosy-pink lips as she carefully walked down the path leading into Orchard Way. The young Professor Assistant had been instructed Professor Yucca to conduct a little bit of research on the various types of Pokemon living within the area and to even study the unique environment that the Pokemon called their home. It would be an understatement to say that the young, raven-haired beauty was happy to be given the chance to engage in a little field work. In fact, she was quite blissful with the opportunity to explore the Orchard Way for the first time. The weather was lovely, the path leading towards the Orchard Way was quite gorgeous due to the colorful berries along the sides of the path, and the sweet chirping sounds coming from a few Wild Pidgey was quite calming. Of course, the scenery soon started to change once Lilith neared the entrance towards Orchard Way. The place itself was rather damp and somewhat foul-smelling, but that didn't bother her, too much. "Well Penelope, it looks like it's time to get little dirty." She giggled, glancing over the at small Munna floating beside her. She had recently saved the Munna from a a flock of Wild Pokemon a few days ago, and figured that it would be nice to have her newest Pokemon around to accompany her during her field work. She believed that it would be the perfect opportunity for the two of them to bond even more. Sliding her dainty fingers into her lab coat pockets, she would then start to make her way through the humid terrain. It wasn't long before Lilith and her Pokemon found themselves encountering a small group of Croagunk playing with each other in a nearby mud puddle. A soft giggled escaped from her lips as she watched in awe. She would then take out her field notebook and jolt down a couple of facts about Croagunk. Once she finished jolting down the notes, she would dig into her bag to pull out a few berries that she had managed to pick up along the way. She placed them a few feet away from the mud puddle and waited for curious Pokemon to make their way overs towards the delicious berries. The Poisin/Fighting-type would flash the assistant a sweet smirk before picking up the berries and soon nibbling on them. After a few minutes of observing the Wild Pokemon, her keen hearing soon picked up the sound of someone nearing them. The Croagunk must of have hard the new bystanders too, because the Wild Pokemon quickly fled from the scene. Lilith would perform a graceful turn and allow her deep, blue eyes to follow onto the sight of a trainer and his Croagunk. "Oh, hello there." She spoke, flashing the young trainer, who appeared to have been around her age a soft and alluring smile.

When the two arrived to the area of their previous battle Alex was surprised to see the area flooded once more. Not only that but Croagunk had taken up residence of the area, the smaller ones playing in the puddles of mud with one another while their parent's kept a protective watch. Though when Alex got closer they fled altogether. "Peculiar..." Alex muttered to himself, closing his eyes as he usually does when he gets deep in his thoughts. "When the area floods Croagunk take advantage and come to the area to moisten their normally dry skin." That much he could easily deduce from their Pokedex entries.
He approached a berry bush, plucking a leaf from its branch. "No water on the leaves. It definitely wasn't rain." He pinched the bridge of his nose and gave a grunt. "This is becoming more and more complicated the deeper I get." he groaned in annoyance. A sharp pain was felt at his ankle, making him hold his leg in pain. He looked over at the offender and tried his best to hold back a shout from the stinging pain. "Wh-What. What was that for!" He felt like he was about to lose his balance but remembered he still had his egg to look after in his bag. Though it wasn't the most ideal thing to do, Alex crouched to a knee, letting his weakened leg get dirtied in the mud.
Shin pointed at another person, a young lady in a lab coat standing in front of him. "H-How about, when there's someone I don't notice. You DON'T do that Shin." Alex almost hissed. Shin gave a nod, hopefully taking that to heart. The sting wasn't too bad, the Pokemon held back considerably thankfully. It still hurt a lot more than he had the tolerance to deal with, luckily it quickly subsided with little after effect allowing him to stand easily. "Sorry, about that. It's embarrassing to have missed you so easily. For that you have my sincerest apologies, my parent's have always told me to be more aware. Seems like they were right to do so." Alex scratched the back of his head, today was just the day for an embarrassing show wasn't it?
Alex's demeanor quickly brightened when he realized the woman was wearing a lab coat, feeling he could safely assume she worked for a Pokemon Lab. "Seems it was a good idea to come here today." he smiled. "Oh, pardon me. My name is Alex, I'm a trainer who has been coming to this area recently." he introduced. "You see, a few areas in Orchard Way have been flooding recently, though in a day's time the area dries up with little water remaining. It isn't the rain because no water remains on the leaves. I'm wondering if a Pokemon could be the cause of this but I haven't come across any that could possibly be the cause of this odd occurrence." he wasted no time in explaining, after all if he was in the company of a lab employee, surely she would have some insight on what was happening, or better yet. "I understand that your work must keep you busy, but if you have the time, I would appreciate more experienced company."

Lilith's friendly smile slowly faded away from her soft lips as she noticed that the trainer wasn't paying any attention to her. She would bite down on her bottom lip and place her hand back into her lab coat pocket. She figured that the reason for the male noticing her probably had something to do with the fact that he was simply lost in his deep thoughts. Therefore, she didn't take too much offense to minor act. It wasn't too long after she had placed her dainty hands into her pockets that she noticed the trainer's Pokemon attack him with his poisonous fingers. A soft gasp escaped from her lips as she withdrew her fingers from her pockets again, but this time placing them over her rosy-pink lips in surprise. Luckily, the Poison/Fighting Pokemon didn't strike his trainer too hard. A pleasing sigh later sounded from her mouth as she walked the trainer and his Pokemon start to make their way over towards her. She was relieved that the strike didn't appear to effect the human's body too much, which meant that the venom from Croagunk's fingers probably did not have enough time to release itself into the male's leg since the impact of the hit wasn't a hard one. Once Alex and his Pokemon moved closer towards her, Lilith soon felt her pale cheeks starting to glow rosy-pink. The male trainer was surprisingly, strikingly handsome and well-mannered. She just hoped that Alex wouldn't pay too much attention to the small blush touching her cheeks. Rubbing her dainty fingers through her long, raven hair, she would regain her composure before flashing him another friendly smile. "No worries. You seemed to have been in deep thought. Therefore, it's quite easy to understand why you weren't too focused on your surroundings at the times. It happens to the best of us, sometimes." She spoke in a soft and angelic tone. She would then glance down at his Croagunk and greet him with a small smile. Meanwhile, the tiny Munna that was recently floating beside her had managed to hide herself behind her trainer's dark hair. "Ah yes. It is a perfect day to get a little bit of field work done today." She replied, the soft smile curved against her soft lips was now growing even more. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Alex. My name is Lilith, I'm one of Professor Yucca's Lab Assistants," she introduced herself. She nodded her head as she listened carefully to Alex's interest related to unique weather conditions within the specific area. She smiled a little more, because he too also appeared to have a slight interest in field work. "Ah, that's a great observation, Alex. " She stated, resting her index finger underneath her chin. "There are a few Shellos living within the area and it is quite possible that some of those Shellos know the move Rain Dance. Which could explain the recent flooding. I'm also sure that you're aware that there are a lot of Croagunk living within this area, too. Due to Croagunk's extremely dry skin a lot of them prefer to bathe and rub up against wet leaves, and even play around puddles of mud to absorb the moisture, because it helps keep their skin moisten and healthy. Perhaps, that's the reason for the small drought. That is just one of my hunches, though. It is also may be possible that there are indeed other Pokemon that we have failed to encounter here, who holds the answer to the real question." She replied, carefully sliding her hands back into her pockets. "Actually, I do have a little bit of free time. I would love to accompany you for a little while. Just maybe, we'll be able to find the true answer to this odd occurrence by working together." She smiled before turning to lead the way through the area. "So Alex, are you from the Aina Region?"

Alex may be unaware when he's deep in thought, but there was one thing the man knew he wasn't and that was clueless. He saw the young lady's cheeks gain a rosy tint. He wondered, perhaps he was somewhat at fault for it. He could have been too forward in his introduction. He might have said something to embarrass her as well, he needed to be a bit more careful. While they conversed over the happening in Orchard Way, Alex made sure that Lilith had ample personal space. Enough for them to converse while he tried his best not to be too familiar around her. The last thing he wanted was to make someone uncomfortable around him.
"Shellos..." he repeated, trying to remember if he came by a Pokemon by that name. "I'm sorry, I've never met any Pokemon by that name. Though if you say that they live here and can naturally learn Rain Dance then it would be plausible." he cupped his chin between his thumb and index finger. It left little room for rebuttal. As he's already noticed, Croagunk come out to moisturize their skin. Berry bushes sat somewhat low to the ground and if the Croagunk were in desperate need of water then it would be no surprise for them to rub themselves against the wet leaves to gather as much water as they possibly could. Though, did Rain Dance last long enough to flood an area? It definitely was a small enough area for a Rain Dance to encompass. Alex gave a grunt and shook his head. "The more information I get the more questions come up. Thank you for your view though Lilith." Alex smiled.
Alex nodded when Lilith agreed to help him. "Thank you Lilith. I know this may seem small, it might not even be a problem at all. I just feel that there's something to this that we're missing." When Lilith brought up a Pokemon that the lab hasn't encountered yet he couldn't help but give a slight chuckle. "That would be interesting. I suppose the greatest advances were made off of the smallest of problems." It would definitely be an interesting twist to this day.
Alex almost flinched at the question. He sure wasn't expecting it, but since she must see trainers all the time she might just be trying to make innocent small talk. "I'm from Unova, Undella Town. I came to Aina to become a trainer. I think I've been doing quite well too." he stated. It was simple to give the name of his home town as well as his goal in Aina, he just hoped it didn't get any deeper than that. Thankfully, they soon came upon two Pokemon.
Alex quickly flipped out his Dex to examine the two Pokemon. He'd seen the Skiddo in his battle with Isolde. Though the Pidgey was a new entry into his ever-growing encyclopedia. "Oh, I'm sorry Lilith. I'm also here in search of new Pokemon to train for the gym challenge. I hope that isn't a problem with you." he flipped his Dex closed and put it back in his pocket. "Sadly these two won't synergize well with my current party." He adjusted his bag, careful not to shake the large incubator inside. The last thing he wanted was to damage the vulnerable egg inside.

After hearing Alex admitted that he had never heard of a Pokemon by the name of Shellos, Lilith would come to a short halt and turn her attention towards Alex. "Ah, Shellos is a Sea Slug Pokemon. It's quite an unique Pokemon to say the least. The color of Shellos' body depends on the region that it is living in. For example, Shellos that live in the Western Region tend to have a pinkish color and those living within the Eastern Region tend to have a bluish color to them." She replied, sharing just a little bit of knowledge related to the Water-type Pokemon. "I wouldn't be too surprised if we managed to run into a Shellos while exploring this place." She added as she started to move along the path again. The timid little Munna still floating closely behind her trainer. "No problem, Alex. It is always nice to engage in an intellectual conversation with someone else every now and then." She smiled, scanning over their surroundings with her deep blue eyes. Lilith nodded her head as she continued to listen to Alex talk again. "Ah, there's nothing wrong with being curious and seeking out answers to those questions. I actually admire your curiosity. It kind of reminds me of my own curiosity." She giggled, looking over to flash him a small smile before returning her attention back onto the path ahead of them. "Ah, that is very true, Alex." She added, nodding her head at his statement. She knew that there were a lot of questions out there in the world of Pokemon that still needs to be answer. Some small, and some big. Still, no matter how big or small the question may be, the answers always be helpful in putting together the bigger picture. "Ah, I see. The Unova Region, it's such a lovely region." She smiled, thinking about her own journey through the massive and beautiful region. "Well, welcome to AIna. I wish you the best of luck on your journey." She spoke in her angelic voice. She always loved learning more about different traveling through the world to follow their dreams of being a successful Pokemon Trainer. It wasn't too long that the duo found themselves encountering two Wild Pokemon. The Pidgey and Skiddo were rather cute, but not interesting enough to hold her attention. Apparently, Alex wasn't too captivated by the two of them either. "That's fine, Alex. I'm not in a rush or anything." She replied, sharing a warm smile with him. "Perhaps, our next encounter will be a little more interesting." She added before leading the way again. [ PASS!]

Alex wasted no time writing Lilith’s description down on his note pad word for word. It’s been a decent amount of time since he’s had a need to use the memento. He’d forgotten the charm of writing down an interpretation besides that of a machine’s. When he finished he pocketed the item and wore a relieved smile. He was getting closer to the bottom of this, he knew it. “Thank you for that Lilith. I appreciate it.” He was going to finish this puzzle, he wouldn’t be able to sleep at night if he abandoned it.
“Yes, Undella was a wonderful place. I have fond memories of the place.” He wondered how his time as a trainer would have gone if he did in fact go through the League challenge in Unova. “Perhaps once I’m finished in Aina, I’ll go back to Unova and participate in the Pokemon League challenge there as well. After all, I hardly know my home country.” He laughed, “Though the only place I really know is Undella.” He scratched the back of his head in embarrassment.
“So Lilith, I’ve told you where I called home, how about yourself? What made you decide to become so involved with a Pokemon Lab?” Alex asked. He couldn’t hide in his shell anymore, he couldn’t keep people at arm’s length for the rest of his time as a trainer. It wasn’t that he was afraid of getting close to others. He just didn’t want people not liking what they found when they got close to him. Though that was no excuse to keep the atmosphere tense.
The Pokemon were quite active today, at least it felt so. It didn’t take much longer for another duo of Pokemon to appear. His Dex recognized them as Ekans and Stunky. He didn’t have much time to pay attention to the Stunky as the Ekans was quick to approach Shin. The snake Pokemon hissed at the Croagunk. It must have been a challenge as Shin was quick to go into his stance while the Ekans slithered away. It gave another loud hiss as it coiled it’s body to get ready for battle.
“Hold Shin, this isn’t a good match up for you.” Alex commanded. He took out another pokeball from his belt. “Alright Mordio, to the field!” he commanded. The Fennekin gave a loud yip as she touched down on the field. Alex wasted no time in giving his first order “Alright Mordio, use Psybeam.” The Fennekin took a moment to concentrate before firing off a violet beam of psychic energy at the opposing Ekans.
The Ekans reeled back, and when it recovered it’s eyes were dilated, a sign of its confusion. In it’s confusion it smacked its head on the ground, hurting itself unwillingly. “An easy one.” Alex commented. “Now Mordio, Psybeam once more!” The Fennekin repeated the attack, the second wave of psychic energy was more than enough to take the snake down. Alex approached the Fennekin crouching to her level and patting her head. “Well done Mordio, you get better every time.”
Alex took out an empty pokeball. “I don’t have any use for you but I’m sure someone will.” He tossed the pokeball at the downed Pokemon and waite for a sign of capture. He returned the Fennekin to give her the time she deserved to rest. “Sorry about that Shin. Next time you’ll be able to take your own fights.” He told, getting no response from his silent Croagunk. He checked his bag, making sure the egg was still safe, it was still odd having it so close to him, though it might be even more trouble when it hatches. Forgetting his company he watched Lilith, curious as to how she would handle the other Stunky.

Lilith smiled at Alex, listening to tell explain some of his possible goals to her. "Thanks amazing Alex. I am confident that you'll get quite far in your journey." She assured him. She then skilled a little more when he asked her the place that she calls home. She was rather pleased to see that the silver-haired male was at least trying to warm up little more around her. "Ah yes. I'm from the Johto Region. Ecruteak City be exact." She replied with another soft smile. "As for your other question, I've always been deeply interested in learning more about Pokemon. Especially, learning more about Pokemon Mythology, Pokemon evolution and the relationships between human and their Pokemon." She replied as she continued to walk along the path. "I'm also studying to someday become a Pokemon Professor myself. I attend a local university where I am studying Pokemon and Human Dynamics, Pokemon Origin and History, Theory and Ethics of Pokemon Evolution and Pokemon Breeding," she revealed. "A few months ago Professor Yucca blessed me with the opportunity to take on a internship at her Lab." She added with another smile. A couple of more minutes of walking along the path, the duo quickly founded themselves encountering two Wild Pokemon. Two cute and purple Pokemon to be exact. Lilith's sapphire blue eyes sparkled a bit as she watched the two Pokemon in awe. She truly had a weakened for purple Pokemon. After admiring the Pokemon for a few seconds, she would turn to see that Alex had decided to challenge the snake Pokemon. She placed herd dainty index finger against her chin as she glared at the small skunk. Honestly, majority of her team would overkill the cute, little Pokemon. Therefore, it wouldn't be exactly fair to the first stage Pokemon with a fully evolved team. There was her Munna, but the Psychic wouldn't stand a chance against a half dark-type like this one. Reaching into her bag, she would pull out an Ultra Ball and swiftly tossed it towards the Wild Pokemon with grace. Unfortunately, Alex didn't get a chance to witness her true battle skills. Lilith used a Ultra Ball like a B-O-S-S!
Also, sorry for such a terrible post!
