hoodlum's challenge [kaitlyn]

» TAGGED, Kaitlyn » WORD COUNT, 422 Taking the backstreets midday was never much of a risk for a city slicker like Marin; she knew the ins and outs of the cities, having grown up in one. And when the sun was at it's peak, the ruffians took to the bars or the parking garages to stir up their usual antics. In daylight, there was no secrets. So, she was content to walk along the dingy asphalt, littered with garbage, as she crossed through Lani City. Vandals had sprayed their emblems and messages all along the brick walls, staking territory claims and calling out rivals and enemies in intricate works of art. It was like having free admission to an art museum.
Coming up upon a girl, however, had not been expected. Girls could be hoodlums, but this one did not have the edge Marin would anticipate from a delinquent. The scar and the wings of freedom an impression, but Marin did not detect the malicious aura of a felon. What is that saying... Can't judge a book by its cover. Still, the surprise encounter got Marin thinking.
"Hey, you," she called her her nonchalantly, inclining her head in a way that made her high collar rustle against her jaw, and her hair sway in its messy bun. The green strands that escaped it framed her intense expression. She balanced her egg in one arm so she could point at the girl. "This doesn't look like your scene," she observed skeptically, her red eyes narrow, "if you want to keep your assets, I suggest moving along before the afternoon, girl."
Marin smiled amiably, though her suggestion was course and her expression was sharp. She shrugged her shoulders and that crooked smile curled to show her teeth. Might as well make the girl feel wary; the streets were unkind to those that were unfamiliar with them. It was better coming from Marin than one of the real thugs.
"Unless you got what it takes to hold your own in battle?" Marin offered keenly. "What do you say, girl? Two-on-two, show your stuff." MADE BY ★MEULK OF GS

Hearing the other girl, Kaitlyn turned. Chikara, who was hidden from view before, let out a warning growl, taking up a stance that allowed him to either defend or Attack in a split second if need be. She couldn't help but smirk as she heard the challenge. "Oh? Two on Two eh? Well sure, just don't come crying if you loose." She said placing a hand on her hips, her eyes narrowed in challenge. Her hair was pulled up for once, and it was in a high pony tail. She had no clue what team the other person would use, but she got an idea. "So, you want first move?" She asked with a grin. Her left hand was now resting on Blaze's pokeball, ready to give her fire fox a go.

Marin quirked a brow when it seemed the stranger sized her up just as well as she did. That's when Marin knew she was dealing with a battler. At least that leveled the playing field. Then again, it was likely Marin that had the disadvantage. Considering this was the first challenge she had issued with an actual person, not some rogue Pokemon, she had little clue as to what she should expect. Still, she feigned confidence. "Great answer," she replied smoothly. She rolled her eyes at the quip. "If I do lose, I promise you won't find my crying about it." If anything, she would take the loss in stride. Having been given the opportunity to make the first move, Marin nodded in agreement. "Courtesy on the streets? This is new," she observed with mock surprise. "But I appreciate it." Snagging two pokeballs off her waist, she rolled the small, inactive capsules between her fingers. Then she tossed them up. " Yami, Kurage, it's all you, girls!" At the call, her two Pokemon took the space between her and her opponent. "YAMI"

HP 100% Yami hovered just above her teammate, her tongue lolled out in anticipation. Her bulging eyes narrow at the Pokemon by Kaitlyn's feet, and she cackles tauntingly. Marin's Tentacool, Kurage, stands on the concrete awkwardly. Her tentacles act like legs, and she sways from side to side, like a pendulum with glowing red orbs, as she keeps her balance on land. Both of them glance back at Marin and nod, ready for battle. "Meet Yami and Kurage," Marin introduces her Pokemon, gesturing to them respectively. "And I'm their trainer, Marin." She smiles, rubbing her hand over her egg for good luck while she keeps it tucked back in her jacket. "Now that we all know each other, it's your move." Marin wondered what the girl would call out. Not many trainers specialized in one type exclusively like she, so it was luck of the draw for Marin when it came to type advantages. At least her Pokemon had a diverse enough movepool between them, otherwise Marin would be a one-trick Ponyta. MADE BY ★MEULK OF GS

Kaitlyn grinned. "Blaze, Hishui, your go." She grinned, throwing the pokeballs of her friends out. While she hadn't had much work in double battles, she knew what to do. Glancing up at Matin, she grinned. She knew she had given the other woman the first move, but she wasn't expe her to be a poison specialist. That would make things better for Blaze at least. Chikara grinned as he stood on his trainers shoulder. He knew how this would probobly end, even though the other trainer probably had something up her sleeve. She waited for her opponent to Attack.

Once her opponent's Pokemon took the field, Marin knew the battle had begun. They were an interesting duo: a Fennekin and a Trapinch. Marin had neither encountered or battled those Pokemon before, so she knew to be cautious. Their moves could be potentially dangerous. Without missing a beat, she took her turn. Graciously enough, the girl had given her the first move. With that established, Marin could put forth her strategy. "Yami," Marin beckoned. The Gastly wheezed and bounced in midair, hearing her trainer's call. "Use Hypnosis on the Trapinch!" The Gastly swirled in the field, her purple wisps encircling her as she seemed to fade and materialize before the opponent's Pokemon. Her eyes glowing and pulsating with a strange light, she used her move, trying to induce SLEEP on the Trapinch with every hypnotic sway of her gaseous form. "And Kurage," she called the Tentacool to attention, "use Water Pulse on the Fennekin!" Kurage made a gurgling noise and slithered towards the fire-type Pokemon menacingly. Her beady eyes narrowed and the red orbs on her crown seemed to glow as frothy water foamed at her beak. Soon, the liquid began to pulsate, and it blasted from her in a hissing wave. The Water Pulse scattered litter to either side of the alley with its force, charging towards the Fennekin. "YAMI"

HP 100% Marin watched the battle unfold, her heart pounding. This was it, her first real battle. She was confident in her Pokemon, but it was her opponent she was not so sure about. What did this girl have in store? Marin clutched her egg tight, seeking reassurance from its closeness. To think this small little thing would hatch and be in battle too one day, the idea only distracted Marin from the battle momentarily. She snapped back, her red eyes sharp, looking at every critical angle she would need to take to win. Battle Details:
If 1-6 is rolled, Hypnosis hits successfully. vSt1J7QK1-10
Water Pulse -- 100% accurate STAB "Super-effective!" (x2 weakness) If 1-2 is rolled, the target is confused 1-10

As Blaze was hit quite badly, she grunted in pain. Pushing herself to her paws, she glared at the Tentacool. Kaitlyn smiled. "Ok! Blaze! Use Psychic on the Gastly!" She cried. Blaze nodded, sending waves of psychic energy towards the ghost psychic pokemon. The 100% accuracy Attack was extreamly powerful, and would either knock the ghost type out, or come close to it. "Oh, and dodge Hishui while your at it!" She called.
After she had given the order to the fire fox, she glanced at Hishui. "Hishui! Use Bulldoze!" She cried. The shiny Trapinch clicked her jaws in affirmation. She reared up on her hind legs, looking incredibly stupid as she did so, and slammed them down, creating an earthquake like effect as she charged. Kaitlyn just sat back and smiled.
Summary: Blaze took 60% damage. Blaze used Psychic on Gastly Hishui used Bulldoze on the opposing team.
Number needed for sucsessful dodge attempt: 1-5

Well, Marin could say she had been surprised. The girl's Pokemon harnessed an impressive movepool, and they had the capacity to destroy Marin's team. Sweat beaded Marin's brow, and she decided to put her Pokemon on the defensive before they were obliterated by the opponent. "Yami, Kurage," she called, "do your best to dodge, don't let those attacks land!" The Gastly screeched and began to bobble evasively in the air, trying to use its speed to protect herself from Psychic's power. For, if it hit, the super-effective move would inflict massive damage. Kurage mirrored her ally, balancing on one tentacle and then the other as the Trapinch's Bulldoze caused the ground to shift and shake, churning up concrete and dirt with incredible force. Yami did not seem too concerned about the Trapinch, for she was suspended in the air thanks to her Levitate ability, but the noise of the ground shaking seemed to disturb her, for her eyes were bulging with alarm. HP 100% Now, it was time to go on the offensive. Marin had to be decisive and take action, or face utter defeat. Though it was her first battle, she was not keen on letting her opponent off so easy. When her Pokemon were ready, she made the call to battle. "Yami, use Shadow Ball on the Fennekin!" The Gastly whipped up a black mass from her gaping mouth, aiming for the fire fox Pokemon with a sharp glare. With a shrieking hiss, she launched the shadowy blob at the Pokemon. "And Kurage, use Water Pulse on the Trapinch!" The Tentacool teetered on the ends of its stingers for a moment before bubbling angrily. It glared at its target and emitted a pulsating wave of high-pressure water, which spiraled at the Trapinch in a dizzying motion. Offensive Battle Details:
